Why I've started this newsletter?
I'd like to see this newsletter as a form of a journal that offers a running record of my ongoing training as a TA psychotherapist and shares more about what I do as a coach, consultant and educator.
So far, the reading and prep material are mindblowing. Writing is helping me sort it out in my head. My goal is to bring psychodynamics more into everyday life and work. So my Substack topics will cover psychoanalysis, cognitive & learning science, ethics, innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, coaching, mentoring & leadership…and some weird stuff I might throw in from time to time.
I'll post articles, but please sign up to get updates and to be able to comment, give feedback and ask questions. I Look forward to sharing my thoughts, ideas and experiences.
What do I mean by psychodynamics?
Psychodynamics can help you harness the power of human motivation, creativity and ingenuity while showing us how to avoid relational derailment & conflict.
Psychologists Gerrig & Zimbardo define psychodynamics in the following way:
"human actions stem from inherited instincts, biological drives, and attempts to resolve conflicts between personal needs and society's demands. Deprivation states, psychological arousal, and conflicts provide the power for behaviour just as coal fuels a steam locomotive."
These inner drives are why we must navigate through complex and unpredictable social relationships and hidden behavioural patterns in everyday life, from studying to business.
